A player after receiving two cards in the beginning has options of “hit”, “split”, “stand” or “double down”. Each of these options generally has some signal of hand.

While opting for a hit one is required to take a card from the one dealing. The signal is to scrape cards against the table surface. For a face up just tap on the table. When going for a stand do not take any more cards from the dealer. To signal the same just hold the cards under the chin and for a face up wave the cards horizontally.

When going for a double down, the player might increase the bet by a 100% with the commitment of stand even after receiving just one more card. Even the players which are in non controlling roles may double their bets though ultimate decision lies with the player who is controlling to just take one card. The signal for this is to keep additional chips next to the initial bet and then point using one finger on the table at casino

If the two initial cards have similar values then player has the option of splitting them in two by moving an equivalent of first bet outside the areas of the initial bet. The signal of split is the placing of additional chips outside the box next to initial bet. When a player surrenders the house returns half of the bet money to the player and keeps the other half. One has to verbally say when one surrenders.

A Hand signal in casino is basically used to assist the person monitoring through the video cameras located at strategic locations in the casino. Video recording of all games are made to settle disputes and in order to identify the mistakes of the dealer.
